The key issue is confidence. Genetic testing can help people understand health risks, make treatment decisions and participate in preventive care. Applicants should answer questions accurately, read policy documents carefully and understand how exclusions, waiting periods and benefit periods apply.

It is also a reminder that pre-existing conditions are still treated differently from predictive genetic information. A diagnosed medical condition, current treatment plan or recent symptoms may still influence underwriting. That distinction can be confusing, especially where family history, genetic risk and personal medical history overlap.

For consumers, the best response is to stay informed and review cover before a health event makes choices narrower.
